Norfolk Fruit Growers Association
Year Round
Norfolk Fruit Growers follows conventional growing practices.
Established in 1906, James E Johnson sought to organize the numerous fruit growers located in Norfolk County. This cooperatively owned and managed venture continues over a century later. The fruit growers realized they could improve their business by pooling resources and crops – and it’s worked!
At it’s peak, NFGA comprised of 492 members in 1912. Nowadays, there are 10 active members. Their combined orchard acreage is 1100 – and represent almost 12% of apples grown commercially in Ontario. Their innovation has allowed NFGA to develop technologies for meticulous grading, washing and packaging – all elements to guarantee top notch quality of local apples year round.
